Description

60 years ago the owner of Jeeper Champagne, Arnoud Goutorbe, a resistance fighter, lost a leg helping to liberate France. American GIs gave him a Jeep to enable him to tend his Champagne vineyards. The neighbours dubbed it Champagne Jeeper.

Nowadays the house of Jeeper has gained an international reputation for producing fine Champagnes. With its stand-out bottle-shape (designed to reduce oxidation) and its distinct taste, it stands out from the field.

What is the “Jeeper Taste” ?  It is the production of finely balanced wines, dominated by Chardonnay, with great persistence and no harshness, bitterness or astringency.

Based near Reims, Jeeper have 35 hectares of their own vineyards.  10% of the vineyards are Premier cru and 10% Grand cru. Champagne Jeeper has just received the sustainable vine-growing and High Environmental Value (HEV) certificates.

Region/Terroir:  Champagne. 3 crus from Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs: Damery, Verneuil, Cumières.

Agriculture Biologique and vegan friendly.

Grapes:   60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir

Dosage: Extra Brut – 0g/litre

Alcohol:  12% alc/VOL

Winemaking techniques: Traditional Champagne methods. The bottle shape means less oxygenation and one third of usual sulphur can be used. Long resting on old oak ( 2 years) and long resting on lees (5 years).

Our tasting notes: Brilliant light gold colour.  Elegance on the nose, sharp and mineral with slight citrus aromas and spicy notes.  Complex and clean on the palate, full of purity and tension.  Dry mineral notes, along with flavours of apple and pear.  Wow!

Single bottles, multiple bottles or complete boxes (6 bottles) may be ordered.
