Welcome to our May newsletter!

We have a special deal, some events to tell you about and some information about our Bordeaux wine club.

One of our favourite reds:

We have a winter red wine offer on one of our current favs:  Chateau Haut Peyrous-Retour de Palombières AOC Graves Rouge 2009

Usually $39.90 a bottle we are offering 6 for the price of 5 or 10 for the price of 12 which works out to be $33.25 per bottle.

2009 was a great year in Bordeaux and this red wine, Retours de Palombières from Chateau Haut-Peyrous is a great example of this vintage. Chateau Haut-Peyrous is a certified organic producer  (no pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers are used).

The nose is lifted with spicy red fruits. Great mouth feel: round, complex and gorgeous. The tannins are restrained. It has lovely minerals and the spice typical of good Graves red wine. Rich and soft now and we think the wine will continue to improve with cellaring for the next two to five years.
Wine Enthusiast Reviewer, Roger Voss, described the 2009 wine as “A powerful yet youthful wine.  It balances blackberry fruit character with smoky tannins and delicious , bright and juicy acidity.”
Retours de Palombières is Merlot based (65%)  with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec.

We have lots of food and wine events coming up in the next few months….

On the Queen’s Birthday week-end  we have been invited to do a chocolate and Champagne tasting with Renaissance Chocolates in Rutherglen! If you are going to the North East of Victoria please drop in and see us on that week-end! You will find Renaissance Chocolates at 507 Boorhaman Road Rutherglen. Open 10 til 4. Champagne and Chocolate hmmm.

We will be going to the Brisbane French Festival again this year (week-end of July 11th.)This will be the place to be to celebrate Bastille Day and all things French!

And in Melbourne on the weekend of July 18th we will be pouring wine at theBastille Day French Festival at the State Library.
