Premium White Burgundy (Chardonnay) from an excellent vintage. The vineyards are situated around the village of Puligny-Montrachet.
The vineyard is situated around the village of Puligny-Montrachet and part of the hamlet of Blagny, in Côte de Beaune.
Soil: The soils are clay-rich and very stony lime. The vineyard is located on a gentle slope, rising from 230 metres to 390 metres and facing east.
Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Wine making: The grapes are hand picked and hand sorted, before a gentle and selective pressing of whole bunches, using a pneumatic press. Static sedimentation (débourbage), where only gross impurities are removed, helps the extraction of the natural riches of grapes and terroir while preserving purity. The must is then put into oak casks the origin (50% new). Alcoholic fermentation takes place at cellar temperature via natural yeast from the terroir, lasting several weeks.
The wine is matured traditionally for 14 months without any racking (no change of cask). It is during this period that it gently gains in structure and complexity with the help of periodic “bâtonnage” (stirring-up of lees), malolactic fermentation (natural degradation of the acids) and the exchanges with the barrels (olfactive and oxido-reductive exchanges). Light filtration occurs before bottling.
Tasting notes: Its colour is a quite full, fine gold. In the nose, it is delicate and intense with notes of honey and candied orange. On the palate there is a lively freshness, it is mouth filling with complex fruit, well balanced on discreet new oak. Classic Puligny-Montrachet. Delightful.
Serving suggestions: Serve at 12°C. It matches very well with fish and shellfish, poultry, white meats in creamy sauces and also strong cheeses.
Cellaring potential: Enjoy now or keep for 5 to 7 years.
